Run For The Roses!

The horses running in the Kentucky Derby aren’t known yet, but likely you already know whether you’ll be lucky enough to attend the race this year or not. And while most people think that hats are of the utmost importance, I, naturally, think it’s more important to select your lingerie and foundation garments. And if you want vintage, you’d better be shopping now!

I don’t get to attend the Derby, but I almost always make an event of it at home. For me, there’s nothing like celebrating by watching the race while wearing rose-themed lingerie, sipping mint juleps, with my legs daintily curled beneath me. Here are a few contenders for this year’s race that will surely have you running for the roses yourself!

I’m always a sucker for this vintage Gotham style. One day, it will be available in my size — and then I won’t share it with you lol)

This vintage Laros nightgown features a white nylon-lined chiffon bodice with pink appliqued roses.

Perhaps you’d prefer something similar — but in blue! Also by Laros, same design for sure.

This is a more sheer blue nylon chiffon nightgown, by Renown.

If you’ll be at the Derby, or otherwise more fully dressed, don’t forget the slips!

A sweet creamy vintage full-slip by Velrose, with little pink roses on the bodice cups.

Here’s another vintage Velrose full-slip, in white, with red roses along the scalloped hem.

This full-slip or chemise by Bonnie Strauss is in a pale mint (julep!) green and is lavishly embroidered with detailed roses and greens.

For modesty, or chilly environments, how about this white nylon quilted bed jacket with a trio of red roses appliqued on it jacket? At home or at the festivities, this would be stunning! Authentic vintage by Evelyn Pearson.
