A Leg Up On The Competition

Once nylons hit the market they really didn’t have any competition; nylon was in and silk was out. But that didn’t keep DuPont or retailers from heavily promoting.

It was the lovely actress Marie Wilson whose leg was used to cast this 1950 advertising sculpture to promote nylons outside a Hollywood hosiery shop — you can see Marie perched up there, giving a gam-by-gam comparison. *wink*

It’s no wonder her legs were selected!
