Costume Idea & How

Just around the corner in every woman’s mind – is a lovely dress, a wonderful suit, or entire costume which will make an enchanting new creature of her.

This vintage red satin tuxedo tailcoat is/was a clown costume? Huh. Well costume or not, who wouldn’t love this lined satin jacket with tails? Look at those white satin lapels! The black satin cuffs are a nice unexpected touch too.

The extra kicker is that this was made by Hooker Howe. (Is that pronounced Hooker Ho? I know, I know, I’m like Beavis and Butthead when it comes to words for prostitution.)

But the name Hooker Howe had me interested… Turns out, it was a costume shop in Bradford, MA. In 1999 The Costume Gallery acquired their inventory.

Why am I telling you all this?

Well, for one, it turns out the company name isn’t Hooker Howe, but Hooker and Howe — which means it answers the question “Are you a ho?” with a hearty “I’m a hooker and how!”

Plus who doesn’t want to own the satin jacket with tails and wear it over a white corset & stockings? Maybe some thigh-high black leather boots to match those cuffs?

I don’t know what you’d call your costume… Perhaps you’re not a clown, but a ringleader who cracks a whip making cheeky boys in butt-less chaps run in circles.

Or maybe you’re a slutty hooker and how. ;)
