Cleanliness next to Godliness? OK. But Cleanliness Beats Sexiness?

“Forget the lingerie! If the house is a pigsty, the lingerie won’t help solidify the relationship.”

So they tell us in Why Getting Organized Can Improve Your Love Life.

I find this not only sexist, that men prefer a clean home and view it as women’s work (or that it’s a woman’s role to fix the relationship), but slightly insane. I don’t think there is a biological urge, male or female, stronger than sex — OK, the survival instinct — but I don’t think a clean home can top sex.

If “cleanliness is next to Godliness”, then why don’t men (and women) say “Oh, God, Yes!” when they dust and wash dishes, or when they walk into a clean home?

But, if what the article says is true, perhaps this is the real reason French Maid costumes are considered so appealing?
